We are now pleased to offer custom wedding Crowns!
After the exchange of the rings the priest will place a crown on the groom's head while reciting the crown blessing 3 times:
The servant of God, N, is crowned unto the handmaiden of God, n, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Then the priest places a crown on the bride's head, and recites the blessing 3 times:
The handmaiden of God, n, is crowned unto the servant of God, N, in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The priest then asks God to crown the new couple, “O Lord, our God, crown them with glory and honor” while lifting up both crowns and switching them back and forth over the bride and groom's head 3 times.
Lastly, the priest, deacon, bride & groom, maid of honor, and best man process 3 times around the altar while a certain chant, the Dance of Isaiah, is heard. Then the crowns are taken off. The newly crowned family can display the crowns in their home for the years to come.
In some lands, the crowns are tied together, symbolizing the new bond between husband and wife.
*The wedding crown traditon is unique to Eastern Catholic/Eastern Orthodox Christianity, but can be included in any wedding service!
